I’m Back
I’m back- sorry that it took me so long to do so!
I recently heard from looking at some blogs earlier today that the NHL is considering expanding the number of teams in the first round of the playoffs from 16 to 20. When I first read that, I immediately had two thoughts come to my mind. First, the team owners would want this to make more money. More teams have a chance to get in the playoffs- where the money is. And some teams get further in one more round of the playoff which is just more ca-ching for them.
Personally, I wouldn’t like it. I mean 16 out of 30 teams already make it into the playoffs, adding four more to the mix just seems to easy. You want to see a challenge and fight at the end of the regular season, not 20 teams figuring they’re in, ya know?
My buddy, Matt at On the Wings, noticed a Detroit Free Press article that points out Yzerman’s mural on the Cadillac Tower building is being painted over! I mean you could’ve at least waited until he retired…I hate what this lockout is doing to my beloved team and its captain.
The mural that inspired Red Wings fans to keep hope alive is coming down, and it may be a new game of wait and see to find out who, if anyone, is going up. The 170-by-100-foot wall mural of Red Wings captain Steve Yzerman that graced the side of the Cadillac Tower building for two years is slowly being covered with plain white paint.Â
“It’s bad enough we don’t have hockey. Don’t take that down,” said Roseville resident and downtown worker Linda Heath. “I think it’s kind of a letdown. There’s not enough words to say what he’s done for the Red Wings.”
Since I last updated: Denver won the NCAA hockey championship after beating Colorado College, 6-2 (much to my friend’s dismay). The Women’s USA National Team beat Team Canada (8 time world champions) after a double OT that went into a shootout. Canada missed three of their four shots, while USA made all but one.
My internet is being really uncooperative right now so this is all for this post…
