Frustrated? Heck yes.
So I wake up this morning to learn that we are no longer in the running for the following individuals:
- Willie Mitchell to Vancouver
- Jay McKee to St. Louis
- Martin Gerber to Ottawa
And what have we done since losing to the Oilers in the first round?
- Re-signed Chris Chelios
- Re-signed Nicklas Lidstrom
- Re-signed Chris Osgood
Wow, that must have been so hard to do over the last month and a half. I realize the days of us always signing new sweet players is over, but can’t we get something? Holland says he’s waiting, but for how long?
Folks, we could very well be looking at a Ozzie/Howard goaltending duo. I find that a bit scary. But if that’s the case, Holland better get us a gritty forward and physical defenseman.

Lang, Schneider, Maltby: gone. Traded, waived, bought out…whatever. Clear the rolls and move on.Kopecky, Flippula, Hudler: up.
Howard, Liv, MacDonald: battle it out for the number 2 job then be ready to play 30 games.
Osgood: take the number 1. We have no money to spend on a real starter, so it’s yours for one more year.
Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Kronwall: It’s your team. Lead it.
Sign some hunger: Barnaby, Ward, Roenick, maybe a Salei or Witt.
And like he said, panic is certainly setting in (for me, at least).
And please Mr. Holland, do not re-sign Brendan Shanahan. And whatever you do, do not sign Ed Belfour or the Dominator (he is available now, scary I know).
