Red Wings 4, Blues 3 (OT)

This part of the post was made at the end of the first period…
Halfway into the first period, Brett Lebda got hammered by Dallas Drake and immediately left the ice looking a bit woozy. Both of Drake’s skates left the ice, but he was not given a penalty even though it clearly was a charge. Lebda did not return to the ice in the first period and the extent of his injury is not known. At worst, it would be a concussion because he skated off fine, just looked a bit out of it.

So this is the third time in a month that a Detroit Red Wings player has been hammered by an opponent resulting in injury. Johan Franzen is still out recovering from his injury.

What makes it even more frustrating is that there was no penalty given to Drake for the hit, but a St. Louis player fell in front of the Blues net by himself and Zetterberg was charged a penalty. Ridiculous.

Posted after the game ended…
I was unable to watch the second and third periods due to a meeting, but the Red Wings overcame a three goal deficit to beat the St. Louis Blues in overtime. Plus Pavel Datsyuk got the goal in OT. Hopefully things can start clicking for him and he can start consistently producing offensive numbers every game.

The NHL.com recap also reports that:

The Red Wings had two power-play goals in a game for the first time since Oct. 11.

The Wings had 10 power play opportunities against the St. Louis Blues and managed only a 20% success rate, but it is an improvement so I’ll take it.

Poor Blues. Poor poor Blues. Even YOU must feel bad for them, no?
Good to see Datsyuk bag the winner. But where the bloody hades is Zetterberg? What is wrong with him? Please answer me, Detroit goddess!

It looks like Drake just got suspended 2 games for that hit!
