To Do List for Jan. 2nd

Here’s a to do list or check list if you will before you attend the Yzerman jersey retirement ceremony tomorrow on January 2nd.

1) Fill your car up with gas. You don’t want to leave the house late only to realize you have to fill up the tank.

2) Bring your camera. Make sure it’s charged and you have plenty of room on the film or cartridge.

3) Make sure you have a clean Wings shirt, jersey, sweatshirt, jacket, etc. to wear to the ceremony and game.

4) Arrive early. The gates open at 5pm and the ceremony does not start until 6:30pm, but they are passing out three different things so you want to make sure you get yours (replica banner, commemorative player card set, and a glow in the dark #19 necklace).

5) If you are into collecting items, buy a program or two from the game. At the Brett Hull retirement ceremony in St. Louis earlier this season, they had a special puck they were selling that evening. You may want to look for something similar.

6) Bring plenty of money. There should be plenty of Yzerman gear and if you want to stock up, it’s going to cost you.

7) Enjoy the moment. Sure the Joe will be more crowded and harder to get around. The parking won’t be a party either, but enjoy the moment that comes with honoring one of the hockey greats in captain Steve Yzerman.

8) Oh, don’t forget your tickets.

I hope you all enjoy the ceremony whether it’s on the TV or at the Joe. If you are going and have pictures, I’d love to see them! I will be posting my photos either Tuesday night or sometime on Wednesday!

I am so jealous! But I will be watching the festivities on TV. Are you going to wear that Peterborough Petes Yzerman sweater you recently bought? That could be a good choice for the ceremony.

I was thinking about it, but the jersey cost me a lot of money and a Large jersey is huuge on me so the odds of me getting it dirty is quite great. So I’m going to stick with my normal Wings Yzerman jersey, which also will be going into retirement following tonight’s game.

Wow! Awesome that you get to attend the game/ceremony. I got home too late from work to even catch it on the tube. Can’t wait for your recap on it, Christy.
