Hockey Day in Michigan
The second annual Hockey Day in Michigan is a week from today on Saturday, February 10th. For a list of all the activities going around the state of Michigan, visit CCHA’s website here.
As an intern for both the Michigan Hockey publication as well as the Plymouth Whalers, Hockey Day in Michigan will be very busy for me. I will be covering the Hockey is Fun clinics at Joe Louis arena from 9-10:30am and 1-2:30pm as well as the Detroit Red Wings public practice from 11am to 12:30pm. How cool would it be if I could land an interview with a player? So we’ll have to see. My dad is coming with me so all his sweet photos from the public practice will be posted here at Behind the Jersey.
The Detroit Red Wings will celebrate Hockey Day in Michigan on February 10, 2007 with an open practice free to the public. The practice will be open to fans that donate one piece of youth hockey equipment or a $5 donation. All equipment and funds will be donated to inner city youth hockey programs.
I then get to work the Whalers’ game from 4:30-10pm. Busy busy day.
The Whalers are on a roll, beating the Erie Otters last night 10-1. Today they take on the number one team in the OHL, the London Knights.
