Lebda on Channel 95.5
I don’t listen to the radio much and only tune in to Mojo in the Morning (Channel 95.5 in the Detroit area) when I happen to be in the car. I was lucky enough Tuesday morning to be driving back to school from physical therapy and tuned in at the start of their interview with the Red Wings’ Brett Lebda.
Apparently, they have been interviewing a bunch of Wings over the past two weeks including Pavel Datsyuk. They will also be giving out Wings and Detroit Pistons’ playoff tickets over the next couple of weeks.
- The interview was done as Lebda was driving to Starbucks before heading on to practice. He orders a latte when he goes to Starbucks. They then joke about how Datsyuk had to repeat himself 3 times while trying to order (he did so during their interview) and that he should just write out his order instead.
- Everyone in his family, but his brother, have been converted from Chicago Blackhawks’ fans to Red Wings’ fans.
- Apparently, the team joked about how Lebda’s dad was the same age as Chris Chelios when they went on the father/son trip.
- He had “no comment” on if Cheli’s Chilli really had the best chilli recipe.
- He lived in Chicago and idolized Chelios while growing up so it has been a big thrill for him to be his teammate and play defense together.
- He once met Regis Philbin at a Notre Dame football game while he was a student there. Regis had a hamburger in one hand and a beer in another. They talked for a few minutes.
- Lebda will always own a home in Chicago and returns there every summer to be with family and friends.
