Wings 3, Flames 1
The Detroit Red Wings are up in the first round of the playoffs, 2-0, over the Calgary Flames after winning earlier today by a score of 3-1. Datsyuk, Lidstrom, and Filppula scored the three goals for Detroit (interestingly, all three scored in game one as well).
Once again, it was a very enjoyable game to watch for Wings’ fans and probably torture for Flames’ fans. Overall, Detroit outshot Calgary, 51-15. Calgary started playing better in the 2nd, but once the Wings scored their final goal in the third, it was game over. Calgary played quite poorly in the first and racked up 5 penalties in a row to start of the first period.
There was one moment when Lidstrom slid into the Wings’ net and left the ice and didn’t play for a couple shifts during the power play. Fortunately, his skate had gotten caught in the netting and they were just evening out the blade. No injury worries there. Phew!
Unfortunately, I don’t have time to post a game recap or post other bloggers’ reactions as I have a final exam tomorrow and two on Tuesday so I’m going to be studying like crazy. There won’t be any posts until after the Wings’ game Tuesday night. Fortunately, my economics final is at 8pm Tuesday evening and the Wings game starts at 10pm so I won’t miss any of the game. Once I make it to Tuesday night, updates will resume as normal. I know it’s bad timing, but school unfortunately needs to come first during finals week!
Go Wings!

Gotta love those exams, holding me back as well, hehe.
Up 2-0 going into Calgary makes for an interesting Game 3. Have to believe the Flames are going to be all over the place next game.

So far, so good. Although Regehr lost the 3rd (knee injury back), the Flames never had the momentum. I hope things keep up this way next tuesday and that we don’t lose any of our defensemen.
What about Hudler being scratched for Bertuzzi comeback? I’d rather pull out Samuelson, who did nothing but a penalty.

it was a very well played game and I was glad to see Calgary a least show up in the second. It looks like Big Bert may be a healthy scratch for game 3. via the Detroit Free Press. Babcock says Bertuzzi has not proved to him he is ready to play since being cleared by the doctors.
