Wings 2, Flames 3
Sidenote: Before tonight’s game, I haven’t been thinking much playoff hockey over the past 24 hours between finals and learning of the VA Tech shootings. My heart goes out to all of the victims and their families and friends. I could only imagine if some disturbed student went crazy at U of M and the pain it would inflict on a college campus. Time that I usually spend reading up on hockey has been put towards reading CNN and following the news after these horrific events. I was pleasantly surprised when Calgary asked for a moment of silence before the game for the victims of the VA Tech attack.
I’ll have a lot more to say tomorrow about the game, but I’ve had two finals today and the Wings lost so it’s been a long day and it’s 1:45am.
Good News
- Since the Wings lost, I get to go to Saturday’s game. I’m not happy that they lost, I would’ve been totally happy with a sweep. I did not cheer for them to lose. But this is the only silver lining to a loss…
- Did you see Dan Cleary’s hit on Dion Phaneuf? Beautiful!
- Kris Draper scored twice with Cleary getting the assists on both goals.
Bad News
- The Flames have awoken. I had enjoyed playing against a team that wasn’t really there. But they showed up in Calgary tonight.
- Todd Bertuzzi didn’t look fantastic.
- Robert Lang has still done nothing except for suck it up on the faceoffs.
- Our power play? Honestly, we did nothing with a 4 minute penalty.
- I was kind of hoping that if the Wings had to lose in Calgary, it’d be game four because now they have a bit of momentum and they’re playing at home. Hopefully, the Wings will come out really strong on Thursday evening (and it better not go into OT because I have a final exam Friday morning).

I’m glad the good news is that the Wings won. However, they did not. Have fun at the game though.
