Pronger suspended for one game
Gasp. I’m totally shocked. I definitely did not think that the NHL would actually suspend Chris Pronger.
I believe the one game suspension is fitting of the crime and it’s nice to see the NHL actually pull this off.
Anaheim Ducks defenceman Chris Pronger has been suspended for one game by the National Hockey League.
Pronger received the suspension after Detroit forward Tomas Holmstrom was drilled into the boards Tuesday night in the Red Wings’ 5-0 victory in Game 3 of the Western Conference Final. Holmstrom was cut after getting hit into the glass by Pronger and Anaheim forward Rob Niedermayer on the play in question.
Niedermayer received a five minute boarding penalty and a game misconduct, but replays showed that that Pronger hit Holmstrom from behind with a high elbow to the head.
”I had two guys on me and fell into the boards,” Holmstrom said. ”I never saw the guys come from behind.”
This makes Game #4 very important for both teams. If the Wings can win without Pronger in the lineup and make it a 3-1 series, the series would have definitely swung in their direction. If the Ducks can win without Pronger, that’ll give them a huge boost. Personally, I think the Wings will come out strong and take it to the Ducks who are missing their top player (in my opinion) in terms of ice time.
I’ll be going to Hockeytown Cafe tonight to watch the game so a postgame recap will be up when I return from Detroit. I’ve never been to Hockeytown Cafe before so I’m looking forward to it. Go Wings!

Have fun at Hockeytown! I just went there for the first time yesterday - the food was decent but the place itself was awesome. I wish I could have caught a game, but I only had time to grab lunch before catching the train.
