Wings 1, Ducks 2 (OT)
Bullcrap.
I’m frickin’ pissed off.
The Wings should have had that game. They outhit and outshot the Ducks.
Don’t get me wrong, the Ducks didn’t give up and definitely applied pressure when they went 6-on-4 with 1:57 remaining in regulation and they were out there in the overtime. JS Giguere played great.
The Wings should have made it 2-0 earlier in the game on their bazillion chances in the second and third period. It never should’ve gone to overtime. I’m mad at the Wings for not capitalizing on the opportunities and allowing it to go into OT.
And what about that missed too many men on the ice penalty on the Ducks?
Lilja turned over the puck near the front of the net with 8:07 to go in the first overtime. Selanne was on his own lil breakaway. ‘Nuf said.
Why would you try to bring the puck up the center that close to your own net when there is a ton of other Ducks around? Why!?
Plus, Bertuzzi wasn’t out on the bench during the OT (at least that I saw). So we could have an injured Big Bert AND be down 3-2 in the WCF. Crap.
I’m so mad right now. That was our game. I’ve yelled. I’ve thrown stuff. I’m not happy whatsoever.
Bullcrap.

Liljia was on the ice last year for the last goal Edmonton scored on us! I wish we had a team full of Cleary’s.
I cant believe how many posts we hit. Also I thinks it’s repulsive that they call those little one handed tugs but blatent interference calls go by the wayside, on both teams I dont care who it is CALL IT!, or just put the whistle AWAY!

Well, glad to know I”m not the only one who threw something. I tossed a pillow across the room when they tied it up at the end of regulation. I totally agree with your take on the game, the Wings had this game and let it get away.

Christy…
I sure can understand your being upset. I was too! But it’s a game. As mad as you and other fans are, there other things to be even more upset about. Soldiers dieing, people starving in America when they don’t have to be. Many other things more important then a hockey game. That is entertainment. I also had to take a step back and watch something else to put things in perspective. Yea the game got blown. TOO Many opportunities and nothing went according to the WINGS plan I’m sure.
BUT this is a different team then we’ve seen since since 2002. I BELIEVE, we’ve got what it takes. I’m with the team as a fan no matter what WIN or LOSE! I may be dissapointed, but they are still THE DETROIT RED WINGS and I’m so damn proud to STILL be WINGNUT from HOCKEYTOWN despite being in Atlanta for the last 8 years.

Ron- As frustrated as I am with Lilja’s turnover, he has played great this postseason and not at all like last year (although that turnover certainly brought back some memories).
hockeychic- Yeah, I just can’t believe that we dominated and had the lead for so long and couldn’t close it out. Hopefully we’ll play hard and score a lot on Tuesday!
Drapesfan- I definitely understand and know that there are a lot of other things worse than the Wings losing. I just had had a bad day and was in a ton of knee pain so the loss only worsened my already sour mood. I’ve calmed down a bit, but I still get a lil angry just thinking about a game we let get away. I believe the Wings can win Tuesday as well. I’ll be praying that they show up and fight hard. It was just so frustrating to watch this team play so well and to lose the game. Go Wings!
