Ken Daniels to HNIC?
I would like to thank BTJ reader Joe for giving me a head’s up about this. The Globe and Mail reported a rumor that Ken Daniels could be next in line at HNIC when Bob Cole and Harry Neale leave.
Ken Daniels, who is from Toronto and worked for Hockey Night before moving to Detroit to call Red Wings games for the regional Fox TV outlet, was once seen as Cole’s successor. But could he juggle Wings telecasts and the Hockey Night job?
I think Daniels is a great broadcaster and I certainly prefer watching the FSN Detroit broadcast of Wings games over Versus or NBC. I would hate for him to not call some Red Wings’ games because he’s doing HNIC. Obviously, he’d still be able to call most of the games, but it definitely would keep him busy. Whatever decision he makes, I hope it allows him to continue calling Red Wings games throughout the season.
