Zetterberg wants to be franchise player

According to translations by various Lets Go Wings, Red Wings Central, and Hockey’s Future board members, Henrik Zetterberg was interviewed by a Swedish newspaper and said that he wants to basically be a franchise player. The title of the article is “Superstar against his will” in Swedish.

“If Detroit wants to, I’ll sign a contract for the rest of my career.”

- He’s one of the best players, but still one of the most underpaid.
- He can’t complain about his current salary.
- Girlfriend Emma Andersson (a Swedish TV celebrity) will be moving to Birmingham this fall to live in Hank’s 5000 square feet house.

RWC member (patjoh):

About Peter Forsbergs future: I think he will play for another season. This life is so unbelively fun, and you are prepared to suffer alot to be a part of it.

About his own future: Well I´m not gonna be Chris Chelios, but I would like to play until 35 and hopefully all the time in Detroit.

About the problems with his wrist: Ive had problems with a wrist for many years, but this winter I got help from Kent Lindgren from Sundsvall. He found out I had a shortage of some minerals so I started to eat extra salt. A couple of weeks the problems were gone! Absolutely fantastic!

About his back: Its a problem with a disc that was the reason I missed the last 19 games of the season. The play-offs I played with constant pain-killers. Now I have taken it very easy and it feels much, much better. But I truly doesnt know until this autumn, when the heavy training starts.

HFBoards member (hdw):

Almost insane praise has been coming his way. As him being the one to take over after Yzerman, as being the best two-way player in NHL, as being more complete than Ovechkin, Crosby or Jagr.
You just have to remember that you have a lot of supporters when things go well, but the same persons will take their knives out when it doesn’t.

How about here at home?
When I’m here I just want to relax. Forget about hockey. Stay away from all hype.

Next summer there’s contract negotiations waiting with Detroit. One would guess that his 18M (sek) would transform into 50M (sek).
We’ll see what happens. But I can’t complain over the money I make today.

Sometimes it feels like you are ashamed of your salary.
No, I’m not. But it feels a bit odd … when people say that I’m underpaid.

I hope the last translation regarding salary was the correct one (and he seems like a decent guy, so I am going to guess that it is).
