What were they thinking?
A friend of mine sent me a link to this item found on the NHL.com shop for female Red Wings fans:

Seriously. Could they stereotype female hockey fans anymore? I don’t want a pink jersey and I definitely don’t want a red t-shirt with pink hearts and my Wings logo. I have nothing wrong with the NHL creating clothing with a women’s cut, but why is it always pink?

Ouch, I think that’s managed to surpass even the debacle that was the hoodie covered in alternating Penguins logos and butterflies. At least those weren’t bright pink.

Wow.
The only thing that would be better is if it said “I HEART OZZIE!” at the bottom.

I fear they will not be marketing this item for the “serious hockey fan”.

Ugh, that is horrible. I hated when the NHL launched the line of gear for women and they made it all pink. I do not wear pink! Ugh, what’s with the hearts too!

Well it’s not quite as bad a the pink piston uniforms, which sorry were quite popular among ladies. Of course those were the same ladies that would come to game and wouldnt understand very much about the game.

Personally, I think this shirt is worse than a pink jersey. The hearts really stereotype female fans. Pink jerseys are awful, don’t get me wrong. I just couldn’t believe that they actually made this and are targeting it to women (and not little girls).

Puke.
I hate pink and I can’t wear it–pink, yellow, orange, and brown are colors I look horrible in and avoid like the plague. Just use the regular team colors–and hearts are so, like, grade school!

*Shudder*. Whoever designed this should be pelted with rotting vegetables. My objections are not caused by a dislike for pink. Pink has it’s place, but that place is NOT on any form of Red Wings apparel. Clearly, they think we are all what my husband calls “Hockey Annies”. I watch the game to watch the game - I don’t care if I “look cute rooting for the Detroit Red Wings”, which is the NHL’s sales pitch for this travesty. By the way, ladies, did you notice the foiling around the hearts? Classy.

[…] When I saw the posts on HLOG and Behind the Jersey, I laughed. “No way,” I said, “would that happen to us.” […]

Yeah the pink, hearts, and crap need to go. If they ever made a jersey for women (with the team’s regular colors, not a pink one), I might consider buying it since an adult small jersey is still pretty big on me. But the current stuff they try to sell to women is crap. If I want a Wings t-shirt, I buy a kids large. They fit and don’t have hearts and pink everywhere.
