It’s Playoff Time
As I sit here on my couch typing this post, I’m watching the Calgary Flames-San Jose Sharks game at 12:15am. I have class at 8am. This is what NHL playoff hockey will do to you. And thanks to the wonders of Center Ice, I just saw Joe Sakic beat Niklas Backstrom to give the Avs a 3-2 OT win in Game #1 over the Wild. Nice. If Calgary can maintain their two goal lead in the third, all four teams that I wanted to win tonight did (Pittsburgh, Rangers, Colorado, and Calgary).
Anyways, tomorrow is a big day for Detroit hockey fans. Not only does the University of Michigan hockey team play in the Frozen Four semifinals tomorrow evening at 7pm MST (that’s 9pm for us southeastern Michigan fans) against Notre Dame, but the Detroit Red Wings face off against the Nashville Predators in Game #1 at 7pm.
Typically, I would live blog a game or post my reactions soon thereafter. Now that I will be working at the Joe for all of these home playoff games, live blogs will not be possible during home games. In addition, I will be at the Joe probably an hour or so after the game and then it takes an hour to get back. Thus, postgame reactions will not be as prompt as in prior seasons. I will do my best to post quickly, but there’s only so much I can do. During home games, I’m working and can’t catch the entire game. So I plan on recording the games and watching them when I get back home. But due to my schedule this weekend, that may not be possible until I’m done with exams. In conclusion, I will post my postgame opinions as well as a roundup of opinion from the blogosphere as I do every year. It just won’t be as immediate as it has been in the past.
Go Wings!
