Wings 3, Predators 1

As I mentioned in a prior post, I work the home games and since I saw the first period and portions of the third my take on the game is vastly different than all of you who were able to sit down and just watch the hockey game. I want to thank longtime reader Joe Hass for live blogging the game tonight- I thought he did a great job and it is a pretty specific timeline of what went down (great for someone like me who didn’t get to see everything). He may live blog Saturday’s home game as well, but we’ll see!

Overall, it certainly wasn’t Detroit’s best game but in the end they found a way to get the win. And really, that’s all that matters. I must admit, it was certainly frustrating to see the Wings outshoot Nashville by so much and still end the second with a 1-1 tie. I definitely liked seeing Henrik Zetterberg get on the scoreboard in the first game of the playoffs. It was more comforting and reassuring than anything else to see a top player perform well in the first game of the playoffs.

This quote from head coach Mike Babcock kind of sums it all up:

“That’s what the playoffs are about, being patient and waiting for your opportunity. We weren’t great but we were good enough to find a way to win.”

I will try and post a roundup of blogs and articles before I head to work in the morning. If I don’t get a chance to do so before I leave, the roundup will be posted sometime in the evening after work. Go Wings!
