Behind the Blog: Check out my own BtB here.

Basic Info:
- I graduated from Detroit Country Day in 2005 and am now a junior at the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) where I’m double majoring in Sports Management and Communication Studies.

- I am currently a Detroit Red Wings public relations intern for the 2007-2008 season.

- I was a game night intern for the Plymouth Whalers during their 2006-2007 season (OHL Champs!) so I helped out the sales and marketing coordinator there. I was also an intern for the Michigan Hockey publication where I got to write feature stories about youth hockey games, events, and players for the first four months of 2007.

- In high school, I was sports editor and later Assistant Editor-in-Chief for our award winning newspaper, The Day Times. I used to play basketball and run track (6th in the region for 100m dash), but I’ve had nine knee surgeries and no longer can run. Since I can’t play sports anymore, I throw all my passion for sports into following the Detroit Red Wings. I’ve been a fan of the Wings ever since I can remember, but it wasn’t until the past few years where I’ve become, well, obsessed.

My Qualifications…
- Sports staffer for The Day Times [2 years]
- Sports editor for The Day Times [1 year]
- Assistant Editor-in-Chief for The Day Times [1 year]
- Received 1st Place for Feature Writing in the Detroit Free Press writing contest [2003]
- Interviewed Kris Draper, Jason Williams, Denise Ilitch [alternate governor], and Jim Nill [asst. GM] in 2003
- Attended a High School Journalist Day event at Joe Louis Arena where I participated in a mock press conference with members of the media, coaches, and players. [2003]
- I attended Columbia University’s week long Journalism Workshop. I took the management class and learned about the legalities concerning newspaper, writing columns, and advertising. [Summer 2004]
- Received 3rd Place for Opinion Writing in the Detroit Free Press writing contest [2005]
- I talked Red Wings hockey with Rick Morris at Sports Talk Cleveland. [Summer 2006]
- Game Night Intern for the Plymouth Whalers [2006-2007]
- Intern for the Michigan Hockey publication [2007]
- I talked Red Wings hockey on NPR’s Weekend America program [Summer 2007]

A list of things I wanted to do before I die…in the sports world.

NHL Related
1) Attend the Stanley Cup Finals ganes (w/ the Wings in it)
2) Attend the Wings playoff games at the Joe
3) Obtain Wings season tickets
4) Meet Steve Yzerman (at an autograph signing would be just fine)
5) Visit Hockey Hall of Fame
6) Go on a road trip following the Wings, much like JJ’s Canucks trip
7) Touch the Stanley Cup
8) Catch a puck during a Wings game
9) Go to the Winter Olympics and watch the Ice Hockey gold medal game
10) Attend the NHL All-Star Game
11) Get a job / internship with a local hockey organization (Wings, Whalers, or Wolverines)
12) Attend the NHL Draft

Other
1) Go watch the Tour de France (I have religiously watched the Tour de France for the past 4 years during the summer. Even though Lance Armstrong, my second favorite athlete behind only Yzerman, will no longer be racing - it still is an exciting sport and I’d love to check out France anyways.)
2) Rose Bowl (w/ University of Michigan in the game)
3) Attend a Pistons playoff game
4) Attend a Lions’ playoff game (if they ever make one)
5) Attend the Super Bowl
6) Go to the Summer Olympics and watch the 100m dash and 4×100m relay (I ran varsity track in high school before my knee got really bad and those were my events. Plus, I love watching track and field - just wish it was on TV a little more).

I’m the girl standing next to Nick Lidstrom. I just happened to have seats right there when he scored his 200th goal. I was even able to make the cover of the Detroit News’ sports section the following morning!
